Giro Group, the holding company of Artimoda, was founded in 1949 in Beirut,
Lebanon, by Archavir Hudaverdian. At the time it specialized in the manufacture
of all types of leather goods. In 1964 the founder, aware of changes in market
demand that called for metal fashion trimmings, began importing such items from
noted Italian suppliers. Meanwhile Archavir Hudaverdian became their principal
agent in that region. In 1975, the year that war broke out in Lebanon, the firm
interrupted its manufacture, limiting the business. In these exceptional
conditions the Beirut firm began importing materials for uppers, fancy fabrics
and synthetic skins of high quality, an operation that turned out to be a
success and brought new life to Giro Group, which became famous not only for
the metal trimmings but also for various types of materials required for
the manufacture of footwear, leather goods, belts and fashion garments. So as
to offer its customers a more rapid service , in 1999 Giro Group created
Artimoda, its first branch, to make metal trimmings for the company to market.
Starting from 2000 it expanded its business to supply not only that region but
other parts of the Middle East, Europe, Africa. In 2001 the second branch, Giro
Group Syria, was set up in Damascus. The parent company and the two branches
share the same objective: to supply customers with the latest fashion
innovations, always keeping their slogan in mind: excellent service,
collaboration and responsibility towards their clients.
